Better Late than never

I seem to never get a chance to post on my Blog like I used to...I'm going to try to be better in 2017. I have been busy with several projects, one is honing my skills with metal stamps. I found a few awesome sites on Facebook that sell, and better yet give tips and video's on how to use metal stamps. One of my favorite forums is a guy who is 5th generation Navajo, he is so full of information and stories and great Navajo jewelry. Most of my stamps I am buying from his makers and all the stamps are hand carved...beautiful and high quality. If you jump into one of my metal classes I am sure you will be using a few of these.

New Year ...2015

I know it's been such a long time since I have posted but life has thrown me for a loop and I am trying to make sense of it all and I am finding it difficult. I normally post my New Years resolution about this time and I was sitting here thinking of what I will do differently in the new year...hmmm I think this year I will go easy on myself and make my resolution about being kinder to people and to stop taking so much for granted, I have certainly learned...Life is short.

I want to thank my family and friends for all the love and support that has been gifted to me over the past several months. I know I never be able to repay everyone for all that they have done for me and will need you all in the coming months for sure...this next year will be one of the most difficult years of my life. I am planning on getting back to teaching next month and back to my work at the Senior Center....I couldn't have gotten through this without you all.

Great Deal

This post is for all my students or anybody who own Lindstrom tools. I have had the same 5 pairs of Lindstrom tools for going on 20 years and using them nearly every day of those years. They have allowed me to make hundreds of great jewelry pieces but after all the years of so much use the grips were staring to fall off every time I picked them up, I couldn't keep the springs on them any more and OMG the state of the tips on all the tools looks very worn...I'm talkin big chucks of metal out of the cutters and bent round nose tips so bad they didn't meet together all the way.
A few weeks ago I sent all 5 pairs in to Lindrom and had them reconditioned and WOW!! they look brand new and beautiful. We all know that each pair of pliers or cutters will run you about $55-$65 each and who can afford to have them replaced? granted I have been using mine for nearly 20 years and so you know they must be high quality to get as many years of heavy use as I did before I found out I could get them reconditioned like new for only $10.00 a pair, that's $55.00 for ALL 5 pairs.

Rizzo

New Year's Eve we said goodbye to our little kitty Rizzo….18 years old but he was always "our kitty".
We found Rizzo on our back door step when we were living in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He was about 5 weeks old when he showed up with his tail almost cut off and bleeding so bad I couldn't stand it. I called the compound vet and she came over to fix him up and told us he wouldn't live unless someone took care of him. Well we ended up buying him a ticket to the U.S. when I came home and he had been part of our family for the past 18 years. We sure do miss you Rizzo.

Last Class of the Year

Today was my last class for 2013, the next few weeks I will be working on 2014 classes. I just had to post the projects from today's class …Air Chasing. These all turned out so beautiful this photo really doesn't show off the beauty of the colors we got on these cuffs. Great job ladies. I think I had as much fun teaching this class as you had taking it.

Welcome Brendan

Yesterday's class was so much fun and what made it even more fun we had Brendan in our class. Brendan is Ronna's 16 year old nephew, he is here visiting for the Thanksgiving holiday and decided to come to the chainmaille class. This was Brendan's very first attempt at chainmaille and he did a great job. Brendan ….how did you weave that so fast??? Thanks Ronna's for bringing him to class, he must have thought we were all crazy…he fit in perfectly.

This to That

So I love to share things that I find that might help make your life a little easier. Today I was googling around to see what type of adhesive  I could use to glue rubber to glass. This is a very cool site that helps you find just the right product. Just fill in the blanks of what you want to glue together and wha-laa ...you get an answer. Here is the link:
